We excitedly greeted the news that the U.S. and China have now significantly extended the duration of visas issued to students, tourists, and business travelers. Previously, all three groups had (at best) a one-year duration for Americans coming to China. The new rules, announced at APEC this month, extend that duration to five years (for students) and ten years (for tourists and business travelers).
